However Copenhagen moves.

One booking flow and one fixed number, whether the day is a flight, a ship, a trade fair or a run across the water.

What is a Copenhagen chauffeur service?

A Copenhagen chauffeur service is private transport booked ahead at a price agreed before the trip, driven by an operator holding a Danish taxi licence (taxitilladelse) from Færdselsstyrelsen and sold through a licensed booking office. Denmark has had one licence for all paid car transport for up to nine people since the Taxiloven took effect on 1 January 2018, which means every legal chauffeur car here is, in law, a taxi. What makes it a chauffeur booking is that the car, the class and the fare are fixed in advance, whether it is a CPH airport transfer, an hourly car service in Copenhagen or a black car to a meeting in Indre By.

The practical difference is predictability. A metered taxi from the rank at Terminal 3 is honest and well regulated, but the number moves with traffic and the car is whichever one is next. A reserved Copenhagen car service booking fixes the vehicle class and the total before you land, and that total already counts any Øresund or Great Belt Bridge toll on the route plus the airport's charges. Danish passenger transport carries no VAT, so there is no tax line to add either. RYDES quotes in euros; your card is charged in euros.

The same booking reaches well past the city. Cruise port transfers from Oceankaj and Langelinie, Bella Center transfers during trade fairs, a Malmö transfer over the bridge, and the coast road north to North Zealand, Louisiana and Kronborg. For teams in Copenhagen every month, corporate travel in Copenhagen adds central invoicing on the same operators, and the full comparison with a metered fare sits on the Copenhagen taxi alternative page.

One airport, four directions.

Copenhagen is served by a single main airport at Kastrup, on Amager, closer to the centre than almost any other capital airport in Europe. What changes the drive is where you are going from it.

Times are door to door from Terminal 3 for a direct private car. Peak means roughly 07:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 17:30 on a weekday, when the motorways around Amager and the approach roads into the centre slow down. Wet winter evenings, sleet and the odd snowfall push both columns up. Copenhagen is a city of cyclists, and much of the slow running in the centre comes from junctions and one-way streets rather than distance.

Where your chauffeur meets you.

Kastrup is compact and well signed. Ships and trade fairs follow their own rhythm, so each gets its own note.

Copenhagen Airport.

Copenhagen Airport handled a record 32.4 million passengers in 2025, beating its previous high of 30.3 million from 2018, with 62 airlines flying 367 routes. Arrivals come out into Terminal 3, where the taxi rank sits directly outside, with a separate rank for taxis heading to Sweden. Cars dropping off for departures use Terminals 2 and 3.

The airport does not publish one fixed meeting point for pre-booked cars, so we do not guess at one here. Your chauffeur names the exact spot in the message sent before you land, and that message is the authority on where to walk. Timings for the drive in are on CPH to Copenhagen centre and CPH to Nyhavn.

  • Going to SwedenBookings over the bridge are assigned to an operator licensed for the Swedish side; your chauffeur still collects you from Terminal 3.

The cruise quays.

Copenhagen took 316 cruise calls in 2025 with almost 866,500 passengers, and 111 of those calls were turnarounds, where a ship starts or ends its cruise in the city. The 2026 outlook is about 880,000 passengers across 312 calls, with 122 turnarounds. Ships berth at Oceankaj in Nordhavn, at Langelinie along the harbour front, or at Nordre Toldbod closer to the centre.

On turnaround day, every passenger with luggage is leaving at once, and the quays are a long way from a metro platform with cases. A cruise port transfer with the berth named at booking takes that problem away. Your chauffeur confirms the exact waiting area for your ship and quay before disembarkation starts. The airport run is on CPH to Oceankaj.

Bella Center and event weeks.

The Bella Center in Ørestad sits about 6 km from Terminal 3, one of the shortest trade-fair transfers in Europe. During big congresses the hotels around it fill and the approach roads queue at the start and end of each day, which is where a car held by the hour earns its keep.

The calendar to book around: Copenhagen Fashion Week AW27 runs 1 to 5 February 2027, the Copenhagen Marathon is on 9 May 2027 with road closures across the city, 3daysofdesign fills showrooms on 9 to 11 June 2027, and Roskilde Festival is reported for 26 June to 3 July 2027. Book early for all four.

Airport, cruise and event facts above were checked against public sources in October 2026. Airline terminal use, berth allocations and event dates change, so treat your boarding pass, your cruise documents and your chauffeur's message as the final word on the day.

Bridges, zones and the meter.

Copenhagen has no congestion charge. What changes a fare here is a bridge toll on the longer runs, the city's environmental zone rules for the vehicle, and whether a meter is running.

Two toll bridges matter. The Øresund Bridge to Malmö costs a car up to 6 metres DKK 470 one way at the toll station, or DKK 420 booked online from 14 September 2026. The Great Belt Bridge, on the way to Odense and Aarhus, costs DKK 205 with an express agreement or DKK 235 paid by card in 2026. When your route crosses either, the toll is inside the RYDES price and never appears as an extra line.

Copenhagen also runs an environmental zone (miljøzone) for heavier diesel vehicles: diesel cars and minibuses need a particle filter or a Euro 5 engine or newer, and foreign-registered vehicles must be registered before they enter. The operators we use run cars that meet these rules, so it is never your concern. Plans for a zero-emission zone in the medieval centre are being discussed but not settled. Danish passenger transport carries no VAT, and the airport's charges are already counted, so the quoted figure is the total. Paid parking at a stop you ask the car to wait at is the one cost outside it.

How the cost reaches you in Copenhagen, by way of travelling. Taxi figures are indicative and metered; rail fares depend on zones.

Route choice on the bridge runs, and which way round Amager to go at 16:30, is the operator's decision and does not change your quote. Uber returned to Copenhagen in 2024 through a licensed taxi company and bought Dantaxi in May 2025, so app fares here sit under the same taxi rules. The fuller comparison is on Copenhagen taxi versus chauffeur.

How long it really takes.

Short distances, slow last kilometres. Kastrup is close, but the centre is a grid of bridges, cycle lanes and one-way streets, and the timings reflect that.

CPH to Helsingør (Kronborg)55 to 70 min1 h 10 to 1 h 35The motorway north, about 70 km

These are ranges built from free-flow road data, widened for real conditions. Copenhagen winters bring more rain and sleet than deep snow, but a cold morning with ice on the bridges slows the airport runs, and the occasional heavy snowfall can double them. For a flight you cannot miss between December and February, add half the off-peak time again.

Leaving town.

Intercity journeys are quoted as one fixed fare to the address, with the bridge tolls inside it, so a slow Saturday on the motorway is the operator's problem, not yours.

Runs into Sweden need an operator licensed to carry passengers there, so the Swedish side is confirmed at booking rather than sold automatically, and every passenger should carry a passport or national ID. The same applies to the longer drive up the west coast, Copenhagen to Gothenburg, which is quoted to the address. For chauffeur service once you arrive, see Gothenburg and Stockholm.

When you should not book us.

Copenhagen Airport is one of the best-connected airports in Europe, and for plenty of travellers public transport is simply the better choice.

If you are on your own with a small bag, take the metro. The M2 line leaves from the end of the arrivals hall roughly every 4 minutes and reaches Kongens Nytorv and Nørreport in under 15 minutes. Trains from the lower level run to Copenhagen Central, Nørreport and Østerport, also in under 15 minutes. You need a zone ticket, bought before boarding. If you do want a car on the spot, a metered taxi from the rank outside Terminal 3 to the centre costs about DKK 250, and the airport says that rate already includes the tip.

A chauffeur makes sense when the picture changes: three or more of you, children and car seats, several large cases, a cruise turnaround, a congress at Bella Center with a programme to keep, a late arrival, a run to Malmö or up to Kronborg, or a day with four stops. That is why most people book us, but it is not every trip, and we would rather say so. The cost side by side is on Copenhagen taxi versus chauffeur.

Where does my chauffeur meet me at Copenhagen Airport?

Arrivals at CPH come out in Terminal 3. The airport does not publish a single meeting point for pre-booked cars, so your chauffeur names the exact spot in the message sent before you land. Standard pickup is free; being met inside the arrivals hall with your name is a paid add-on. Detail is on the CPH airport transfer page.

How long is the drive from CPH to central Copenhagen?

About 9 km from Terminal 3 to Central Station and Tivoli, usually 15 to 25 minutes off-peak and 25 to 40 minutes at weekday rush hour. Nyhavn takes about the same. See CPH to Copenhagen centre and CPH to Nyhavn.

Is the metro faster than a car from the airport?

For one person with light luggage, often yes. The M2 leaves the end of the arrivals hall about every 4 minutes and reaches Kongens Nytorv and Nørreport in under 15 minutes, and trains from the lower level reach Copenhagen Central, Nørreport and Østerport in under 15 minutes on a zone ticket. A car makes more sense with a group, children, big cases or a destination away from the stations.

What does a taxi from CPH to the city cost?

About DKK 250 to the centre on the meter, as an indicative figure, from the rank directly outside Terminal 3. The airport says its quoted taxi rate already includes the tip. A RYDES booking is a fixed euro price set before you travel; the comparison is on Copenhagen taxi alternative.

Are your Copenhagen chauffeurs licensed?

Yes. Under the Taxiloven, in force since 1 January 2018, all paid passenger transport in cars for up to nine people needs a taxi licence (taxitilladelse) from Færdselsstyrelsen. Each trip is sold through a licensed booking office, the car carries a working taximeter and an in-car camera, and drivers hold a taxi driver card after a 74-hour course and exam. A fixed price may be agreed in advance with the booking office, which is how a RYDES booking works.

Is there a separate limousine licence in Denmark?

No. The four older licence types, including the old limousine permits, were merged into one taxi licence in 2018. A chauffeur car carrying paying passengers in Denmark is licensed as a taxi, whatever it looks like.

Are tolls and VAT included in the price?

Yes. Øresund and Great Belt Bridge tolls on your route and the airport's charges are inside the quoted price. Danish passenger transport carries no VAT, so nothing is added for tax. Paid parking at a stop where you ask the car to wait is the only cost outside the quote.

Why is the price in euros?

RYDES quotes in euros; your card is charged in euros. Local fares we mention, such as taxi rates and bridge tolls, are given in Danish kroner because that is how they are published, and we do not convert them.

Can you drive me from Copenhagen to Malmö?

Yes. Malmö Central is about 31 km from CPH over the Øresund Bridge, usually 35 to 45 minutes off-peak. The bridge toll, DKK 470 one way at the station for a car or DKK 420 online from 14 September 2026, is inside the price. A licensed operator for the Swedish side is confirmed at booking, and each passenger should carry a passport or ID. See Malmö transfer and CPH to Malmö.

Do you collect from the cruise terminals?

Yes, from Oceankaj, Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod. Copenhagen expects about 880,000 cruise passengers in 2026 across 312 calls, 122 of them turnarounds, so disembarkation mornings are busy. Give the ship name and quay at booking and your chauffeur confirms where to wait. See Copenhagen cruise port transfers and CPH to Oceankaj.

How far is Bella Center from the airport?

About 6 km, typically 8 to 15 minutes, and 15 to 25 minutes when a congress starts or ends. For a multi-day event, an hourly booking keeps one car and chauffeur with you. See Bella Center transfers and CPH to Bella Center.

Can you take me to Helsingør and Louisiana?

Yes. Kronborg at Helsingør is about 70 km from CPH, usually 55 to 70 minutes off-peak, and Louisiana Museum at Humlebæk is about 61 km. Many guests combine the two on one hourly booking up the coast. See North Zealand and Copenhagen to Helsingør.

Do you drive to Odense, Aarhus and Gothenburg?

Yes, each as one fixed fare to the address. Odense is about 165 km and Aarhus about 305 km, both over the Great Belt Bridge, whose toll is included. Gothenburg is quoted to the address with a Swedish-side operator confirmed at booking. See Copenhagen to Odense, Aarhus to Copenhagen and Copenhagen to Gothenburg.

Should I tip my chauffeur in Copenhagen?

There is no expectation. Tipping is not customary in Denmark because service is built into prices and taxi fares. RYDES offers an optional gratuity once at payment, and it is entirely your choice.

How much free waiting do I get?

Sixty minutes from the actual landing time at CPH, tracked against the aircraft rather than the timetable. Other pickups include 15 minutes. After that, waiting is billed in 15-minute increments at the class rate, and you are told before it starts.

Can I book a car by the hour in Copenhagen?

Yes, with a two-hour minimum in 30-minute increments, suited to Fashion Week, 3daysofdesign or a day of meetings. Book at least 3 hours before pickup; reservations open up to a year ahead. See hourly chauffeur hire and Copenhagen Fashion Week.

What if my flight is late or the cancellation window passes?

A delay moves the pickup automatically and your free hour starts at the actual landing. You can change or cancel free of charge until 24 hours before pickup; inside 24 hours the booking is charged in full. Dispatch answers around the clock on +1 888 881 7933.
